Predictions for 2010

Its now the new year and I was planing on having the 2010 Predictions here before the new year but, I got a lazy streak with the holidays and junk.
So I asked some of my friends and pals to help me out on the Predictions for 2010. Tonight we have Mr. VIP himself Travis Pope from ZuneSpring.com, The Marlboro Man Mark S. and the guy who should have played Gandalf the great Mike Evens From Datamike.net,

Mark’s predictions
Blockbuster will announce dedicated hardware similar to Roku to compete with Netflix. The hardware will suck, current Blockbuster subscribers will have to pay an added fee to use it and it will fail miserably along with Blockbuster going thru Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization in 2011.)
Best Buy and Walmart will cut way back on CD and DVD/Blueray media sales. Where there would be 5 or 6 aisles dedicate to CD’s and DVD’s there will only be two.
They will be replaced with buying either buying a card(similar to an Itunes card) that you can use to download the music or movie from the internet thru a third party or a SD or flash card that has the media on it.
Another major newspaper publisher(possibly NY Times) will go pay-wall similar to what the Wall Street Journal is doing.
Kindle will announce an upgraded version of the Kindle that will take advantage of the new 4g service sometime near the end of the year.
A group of book publishers will get very nervous about ebooks selling for way cheaper then hardbound and softcover books. They will band together and lash back at Amazon and other ebooks sellers and threaten to pull out of the ebook market. A compromise will be agreed to, to delay the sale of ebooks for a limited time until the hardcover title has been out for maybe 90 days. Itunes will also sell ebooks in the store shortly after the agreement.
Twitter will be bought out but not by Facebook. Either Microsoft or Google will pay way way too much for it outbidding Facebook.
Net Neutrality will be pushed in 2010 by the FCC and some Congress critter or Senators who don’t have a clue with a bill in congress but the big ISP’s will lobby hard against it to make if fail
Or it will pass but be amdended to the point of uselessness
Google OS for 2011.

Google Chrome will surpass Firefox.
Facebook will finally give up on trying to rip off twitter and just buy it. Most normal people still won’t have a clue how to use it. Thus creating such catch phrases as “Girl you need to tweet my facebook.”
Microsoft will release a version of Windows Mobile that isn’t completely overly hard to use.
Apple will release the iSlate to much applause… That is until it occurs to them that it won’t fit in their pocket any more than Sony Viao P would.

Psystar will continue to keep it’s doors open as a clothes retailer, and sell millions of it’s “I Survived Apple Legal” t-shirts.
The public will continue to whine about privacy, all the while signing up for a new service called Homester which allows people to post their address and connect with their neighbors.
Netbooks will get faster processors and larger screens, begging consumers to ask What the hell is the difference between and netbook and a smartbook, and more importantly why don’t either of them feel and look like they’re fisher price toys.
New York times will finally find a online business model, turning into a social network where users will then approve of stories that they like. The new york times will be then renamed Nigg.
